Here at D'Onofrio's Food Center we know our customers love to cook and rich traditions in their family recipes. We would would love to share some of ours with you. Each month we will be featuring a recipe of some of our favorite dishes. Please feel free to try them out at home and let us know if they were as delicious for you as they were for us!!

Brisket with Cherry Barbecue Sauce
INGREDIENTS:
  • 4 pounds fresh Certified Angus Beef ® brisket flat (Learn more about this cut)
  • 2 (15-ounce) cans dark sweet cherries, drained
  • 1 (18-ounce) bottle barbeque sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

 
DIRECTIONS:
Combine cherries and barbecue sauce and blend in blender. Pour water into empty barbecue sauce bottle and shake to remove remaining sauce. Add to blender and blend until smooth.

Place brisket in oval, 6-quart slow cooker, lean side down. Season with salt and pepper; lightly rub into meat. Pour cherry barbecue sauce over brisket and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.

Chef’s Option: Just before serving, place brisket with sauce under the broiler or on the grill to caramelize the sugars in the sauce.

Slice brisket thinly across the grain; serve with cherry barbeque sauce.
